Project Description

The Colorado Department of Human Services Office of Early Childhood required an approach to manage and improve statewide quality ratings and assessments for early childcare providers in Colorado.

Colorado Shines QRIS is a method to assess, enhance and communicate the level of quality in early education and care for licensed providers in Colorado.

This system provides standardized criteria for all childcare providers in Colorado to be rated on quality, giving them incentives and support to those providers who wish to raise the level of quality care available at their facility.

Challenge

  • Develop an online application to track federal “Race to the Top” funding
  • Allow childcare programs in the state of Colorado access to funding through a unified application and quality improvement process to meet minimum performance standards.
  • Provide transparency into childcare program ratings to Colorado families

Solution

  • Vertiba built the licensing application that touches nearly 5,000 preschools in the State for daycare centers, in-home daycares, preschools for children 0 to 6 years old.
  • Centralized website for families to locate quality childcare providers
  • Offline Mobile App provides state auditors with the immediate ability to upload/access data, rated on QRIS
